This week saw the 1st team travel over the border to Lutterworth, there were a number of changes to this week with some experience unavailable this week. In the pack Brendan Leslie moved to second row from the bench, but it was the backs who suffered the most with the half backs changing from last week, a change at outside centre and two of the back three changed. The bench was also completely different to last week as well with Pete Gilbey stepping in at the last minute.
1st Half
Boro started with the wind at their backs and had some early possession but a couple of mistakes saw any momentum lost. Andy Seaton managed to place a good kick into the Lutterworth 22 but no advantage could be taken. A series of conceded penalties saw Lutterworth get into the Boro 22 and they kicked a penalty to take the lead (Lutts 3v0 Boro). Boro's inexperience was showing as they couldn't take seem to get a foothold but some strong defence kept Lutterworth out. However, a penalty for a high shot saw Boro move up the field, a half break from Callum Ward was closely followed up by a run from Kieran Checkley which saw Boro get into the Lutterworth 22. Boro kept the pressure on and a series of penalties saw a Lutterworth player sent to the bin. Boro took full advantage and Kieran Fereday spotted a gap in the defence to score a try and give Boro the lead (Lutts 3v5 Boro).
Boro soon doubled their score with a run from their own 22, a break from Kieran Fereday saw the ball moved onto Darrell Raynard who drew in a defender to pass the ball to Callum Ward who then passed it inside to Harry Bryan to score the try (Lutts 3v10 Boro). However, an error from the kick off saw Lutterworth put together some phases which resulted in a try for Lutterworth (Lutts 8v10 Boro), the half ended with a couple of key injuries to players.

2nd Half
Boro started off with the half with possession but a combination of the wind and a number of errors saw Boro on the back foot and it took some strong defensive work to keep them out. One Lutterworth attack saw the ball held up over the line two times in a row that seemed to spur Boro on but again a mistake saw momentum lost. Eventually Lutterworth's pressure saw them given a penalty chance which was converted giving them the lead (Lutts 11v10 Boro). Boro responded with an attack of their own which saw Andy Seaton make a half break which was followed by a good carry from Matt Ellson but a knock on saw any advantage lost with Lutterworth clearing their lines.
Lutterworth were soon awarded another penalty for offside and extended their lead (Lutts 14v10 Boro), another injury in the back row saw more disruption to the team and again Lutterworth took full advantage with another penalty conversion (Lutts 17v10 Boro). Boro were now struggling to get out of their own 22 and Brendan Leslie was given a yellow card as the team infringed again and Lutterworth converted the next penalty chance to prevent Boro from getting a bonus point (Lutts 20v10 Boro).
FT Score
Lutterworth 20 v 10 Wellingborough
A tough game for the lads this week, its fair to say a bonus point would have been a bit unfair but the team showed a lot of heart in defence which bodes well for the rest of the season. Next week is another tough encounter so it is essential that there are plenty of numbers there on Tuesday and Thursday so some of those errors can be ironed out.
