Mini and Junior Rugby 3 of 9

3. Joining the Club

We're so pleased that you're considering joining our club. Here's the key information you need to know:

Teams

Firstly, work out which team your child(ren) will be joining. Our teams equate to school years and players move up to the next team at the start of the season in September (check the teams section for more Information)

It's easiest for your child, especially if they've never played before, to join us for a training session. Training takes place throughout September. Outside of this we recommend you contact the team age group manager to confirm the date for the next training session. Click on your team above to be taken to the team page.

Timings

Mini and Junior rugby teams train and play on Sunday morning between 10.00 and 12.00 September to April inclusive. Training lengths vary based on age group, based on England Rugby guidance.

Full support

Each age group has a dedicated team of volunteers running it including coaches, first aiders and a team manager who are the primary contact for each team. Age groups are supported by a Mini & Junior chairman, coaching coordinator and safeguarding lead that looks after the running of the section, kit, safeguarding and first aid.

What to bring

For their first session, bring your kids down in comfortable sports gear. If they have boots, please bring them otherwise trainers are fine. Likewise if you have a gum shield please bring it along.

Bring a water bottle with you for hydration and in the winter bring hats, gloves, base layers, and anything else to keep your kids warm while they play.

You'll get full information on the kit they need when you join.

Food and drink

It’s a great place to come and have a bacon sandwich and cuppa while watching your kids have fun on the pitch. Afterwards it’s great to see parents and kids in the clubhouse enjoying a drink and some hot food. Match food is supplied on days when your child plays a match (both home and away).
